The Golden Sign
Becoming a homeowner is a proud step for any person in the United States. It’s a moment of achievement, a moment of pride, and a moment where you can finally say “I made it, I’m independent!”. Then you live your new life.
The process of learning all the daily tasks that come with owning a home, instead of renting an apartment, like cutting the grass or any maintenance and repairs. Day after day the small unexpected bills begin to add up.
The washer goes out and the roof springs a leak. None of these were built into the budget because these things weren’t suppose to happen and definitely not all at the same time.
After you’ve delayed the bills you can and stacked your credit up to stressful amount, you’re out of options. You’re going to go lose the grand trophy of your life, you are going to lose your home…. And to make things worse, your credit with an eviction is going to take a major dip. Life couldn’t get much worse. Right?
Without any other options, you think to yourself, I need to get rid of this house and attempt to salvage my credit. But it’s so far down the road, you have to be out of the house in 30 days. No money to get a place to go and no credit to get by on. The desperation has your mind focused on anyway out possible. Then like a beam of light from the gods, you look up to see a sign at crowded intersection. The sign simply says ‘We Buy Houses’ and a phone number at the bottom. Quickly entered into your cell phone and saved for later, your thoughts begin to race with every combination of outcomes for your impending call to this mystery sign. The drive home is unrememberable, the focus is strictly on calling this number.
You think about the lines you have to set before you call. You can’t let the house go for less than the $75K still owed on it. It’d be better to declare bankruptcy than to have a massive debt with nothing to show for it. The house has stayed in fantastic shape and was in a decent neighborhood. This should go fine, you think to yourself. But is it even possible to sell your house for that price that quickly??? You can only hope and pray.
Shakingly, you call the phone number. A man picks up within the first couple of rings. “This is Kyle with WAR Investing, How can I help you today?” stated the man in a calm but cheerful voice. You begin to tell him that you need to sell your home and fast. Expecting to be all numbers and legal terms from there, your breath is taken away when Kyle ask one simple question, “Are you okay, what do your need to make your situation better?”. You almost break down into tears and quickly spill all the problems of your life. You tell of your debt and hardship. You explain that the house is just one of many problems and that your don’t how your going to get a place to live after this and get moved in less than a month!
Kyle almost chuckles in confidence. He says to me, “Well let’s take a look a the place. If it’s everything you say it is; I’ll pay your $75K debt off, give you enough money to get an apartment nearby, and we’ll let you live in it for 45 days from now. Does that help?”. You’re speechless. A single tear rolls down your cheek as you catch your breath. You tell Kyle that it all sound wonderful.
Kyle came over the next day and the house closed before your eviction. Everything when according to the plan. That was by far the best phone call you ever made.
